Nepal Maharishi Foundation for Vedic Culture 10 M aharishi has explained that for the Vedic performance of Yagya to be effective and produce the benefit for the individual and community, the state of Yoga must first be established in the awareness of the Pandit. To achieve this the Pandit must bring his awareness to experience Atma, the Transcendental field of consciousness, which is his own simplest form of awareness. This is easily achieved through the daily Vedic prac- tice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) that was revived by Maharishi, which provides a natural and systematic procedure for attaining the state of Yoga or Union with Atma. This transcendental field of consciousness or Atma is that Universal Intelligence, where the Veda is eternally reverberating. This is the source of all the laws of Nature or “Devata”, in the language of the Veda, which are responsi- ble for the growth and progress of everything in creation. When the Pandit recites the Veda from this level of awareness, then they are directly and effectively enlivening the Laws of Nature— the Devata, to produce the desired result (Sankalpa) of the Yagya. Maharishi’s Vedic Pandit training ensures that the Pandits are contacting this field of pure awareness or intelligence through twice daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) programme. The Pandits are also trained in an advanced programme to further enliven the Devata level of awareness—this is done through the practice of the TM-Sidhi pro- gramme, including Yogic Flying, which is Maharishi’s revival of the practice of Yoga described by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras. VEDIC TECHNOLOGIES OF YOGA AND YAGYA FOR SUCCESSFUL PANDIT TRAINING MAHARISHI VEDIC PANDIT TRAINING Vedic Pandits practicing Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques including Yogic Flying develop the ability to experience Atma, Pure Conscious- ness, the basis for proper and effective Vedic recitation to enliven the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature.
